AHAKOA HE ITI, HE POUNAMU / ALTHOUGH SMALL, IT IS PRECIOUS
Mount Maunganui, New Zealand
I realized this mural for Street Prints Mauau 2020 in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.
Mount Maunganui is a small city close to the bigger one named Tauranga, located in the north east peninsula of New Zealand.
The entire area is known as a multicultural hub for its rich mix of people and as the “bay of plenty”for his natural resources.
This unique location has been chosen by Street Prints festival held by the Maori community and Co curated by Findac has the place to guest 20 locals and international street artists and their murals in the month of January.
My work has been inspired by the legend of the Mount itself, known as Mauao that means caught by the morning sun, and by the will of the Maori community to underline the importance of our youth and the urgency of looking after the environment for the next generations.
